maritime museum Set in the historic harbour area of St Helier, the Maritime Museum is home to hundreds of items relating to the people of the sea, seafaring, navigation and the elements. It focuses on Jersey's maritime heritage and the experiences of Islanders, both contemporary and historic. Explore the natural elements, including the tides, wind, waves and coastline and discover the basic principles of boat design. Play with the tidal flow to create the biggest waves, demonstrate the power of the wind on sailing ships and track the voyages of Jersey sea captains across the globe. At the Maritime Museum you’ll see, hear and even smell the human story of Jersey's maritime past. Also located at the Maritime Museum is the Occupation Tapestry, made by the people of Jersey to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Jersey from German occupation during the Second World War.
