The construction of Grève de Lecq Barracks began in 1810, at the height of the fear of Napoleonic invasion. Completed by 1815, the Barracks were designed to accommodate 150 men from the garrison troops stationed in the Island and were still in active use until the 1920’s. At the heart of the Barracks’ complex lies the Officer’s Quarters which would have originally housed four officers. This delightful and self-contained building has now been carefully converted to provide comfortable and spacious accommodation for up to six people.
Leading off from the fine timber floored central hallway there are four equally sized rooms, which comprise three double bedrooms and a living room complete with its original Victorian fireplace. At the end of the hallway the former officers’ mess area has been converted into a spacious kitchen-diner, with a small bathroom located opposite the rear doorway. A small private courtyard lies at the rear of the building providing a perfect spot for sitting out or enjoying a barbeque with family and friends.
Located within two minutes walking distance of Grève de Lecq Bay, the accommodation enjoys sea views and is within easy reach of a number of local amenities including beach cafés, public houses and the beautiful cliff paths of the north coast.
