The Archive collection of the Jersey Heritage Trust is held at the Jersey Archive, Clarence Road, St Helier. The Archive collections include records of the Lieutenant Governor of Jersey from c.1800 to the 1960s. These records include files concerning the First World War, the evacuation of British troops before the Occupation of Jersey and also include the letter books of General Don. The Bailiff's collection includes the Occupation and Liberation files kept by Sir Alexander Coutanche during the Second World War. States Committees and Departments have already deposited records at the Jersey Archive. These include Education, Tourism, Customs, Law Officers, States Greffe, Driver and Vehicle Standards, Treasury, Financial Services and the Judicial Greffe. The Jersey Archive also holds the ecclesiastical parish records, including baptism, marriage and burial registers from many Jersey parishes, including St Helier and St Saviour. Records from non-conformist churches such as the Methodists and the United Reform Church are also held. The Jersey Archive not only holds public records, it also accepts personal collections from businesses such as the Overseas Trading Company and from private individuals or families such as the de Carteret collection.
